Thermal Modification 

Thermally modified wood is the signature product of Thermory. The natural, chemical-free process of treating softwood with heat and steam brings out the best qualities of the timber, whilst creating unique visual changes in the wood by making it slightly darker and bringing a pleasant, toasted aroma to it. This gives a wider array of colour choices suitable for both interior and exterior spaces in both public and private settings.  

During the thermo treatment process, heat is first used to enhance the structure of the wood throughout. This creates a dimensionally stable and durable product even in changing humidity and temperature levels. The steam in turn gives control of the process.
