These RESPECT series bench boards by Finnmark Sauna pair the standard SHP seating profile, a rectangular section of 28 × 140 mm with R4 (4 mm) radiused corners, with a lamellar construction that improves stability, extends the lifespan of the raw material and allows a more flexible range of dimensions than traditional manufacturing. Thermo aspen is heat-treated to lower its moisture content, giving a tough, rot-resistant structure that releases no resin in sauna heat, with a honey-brown colour, a toasted scent and a straight, knot-free grain. Each pack contains four boards in your chosen length of 2,100 mm or 2,400 mm, and the 28 mm thickness helps prevent warping and twisting over time. The boards suit a self-build bench, our Sauna Bench Fabrication Service can make up a complete bench system, and we recommend finishing the wood with sauna paraffin oil, sold separately, which slightly deepens its colour.

Timber
Thermo aspen is created by heat-treating the soft timber. The natural heat treatment reduces the moisture level of the wood, giving it a tough, rot-resistant structure that does not secrete resin in the heat and humidity of a sauna. The grain is straight and knot-free, with a honey-brown colouration and a pleasant, toasted scent.
Using the product
These boards suit a self-build sauna bench, and our Sauna Bench Fabrication Service can make up a complete bench system to your design. Fix the boards with stainless steel fixings and leave small ventilation gaps between them, so air can circulate and the timber can move naturally in sauna heat.
Quality & Wastage
The general grading standards for sauna wood apply to this timber. As a natural product, timber shows some colour variation between packs and batches. Lifestyle images are representational only; the finished look of a sauna varies with the width and placement of the bench boards.
