These Thermory SHP bench boards are cut from dark thermo alder, a premium timber whose intense natural thermal modification produces a striking dark chocolate brown colour. Elegant, easy to keep clean and with a strong toasted scent, it suits saunas where a contemporary look is desired. Each pack contains four boards measuring 27 mm thick by 85 mm wide, cut to the SHP profile: a rectangular section with R3 radiused edges that is the standard for sauna bench boards. Choose from 2100 mm and 2400 mm lengths; the boards suit DIY bench builds, or we can create your ideal bench system through our sauna bench fabrication service.

Timber
Dark thermo alder owes its deep chocolate brown colour to an intense, natural thermal modification, which also gives the wood its strong, toasted scent. It is a premium timber, elegant and easy to keep clean. As a natural product, timber shows some colour variation between packs and batches.
Profile
SHP is the standard profile for sauna bench boards: a rectangular section with radiused corners, usually R2, R3 or R4 (a 2 mm, 3 mm or 4 mm radius on each edge). These boards carry an R3 edge. The 27 mm thickness is important to prevent warping and twisting over time.
Quality and wastage
This timber is A-grade quality, characterised by durable, knot-free boards with a low risk of splintering. We recommend a wastage allowance of 20–25%, which also accounts for the risk of damage in transit. If you need a shorter length than we stock, our cutting service can trim a longer board to size for a small fee, with the off-cut added to the pallet.
