Description
The Lampi is a six-to-eight-person outdoor hot tub, designed and made in Finland by Drop Design Spa and named after the Finnish word for a pond. There are no jets to disturb the surface: the water sits calm and still, lit from below by the LED pool light, in a drop-shaped acrylic pool over an insulated aluminium frame that can stand freely or be embedded into a terrace. Each spa includes 3 kW electric heating, a surface water filter with UV treatment, a digital control panel, an insulated cover and a starter kit of water-care chemicals for year-round use. It is available in White, Grey, Black or Matt Black, either as the Electric model or as a Hybrid that adds the 35 kW Black Box wood-burning stove with chimney, protective grill and ash spade. Connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician; the standard supply is three-phase 400 V, and the centre unit can be converted to a single-phase 230 V supply for UK homes.

Installation
The spa arrives upright and is turned and positioned by four to six people; grooves for lifting straps are moulded into the base. It must stand on its frame on a level, load-bearing and horizontal base of concrete, compacted stone or timber able to carry 2,500 kg without sinking, with frost movement considered and at least 50 cm of service access on all sides; a spa sunk into a terrace needs a service hatch so the side panels can still be opened. Connection may only be carried out by a licensed electrician, the supply must be RCD protected, and power must not be switched on until the spa is filled with water. The supply cable can enter through any corner of the cladding or a lifting-strap groove, and other electrical devices must be kept at least 2.5 m from the spa. On the Hybrid version the wood-burning stove stands beside the spa and is installed following the manufacturer’s instructions, with the chimney kept clear of flammable structures. The installation and operating manual in the Downloads tab must be followed.
Using the spa
The water temperature is set from the control panel, between 10°C and 40°C with 37°C the recommended bathing temperature. Keep the pH between 7.0 and 7.4 and add chlorine or an equivalent treatment after bathing, or at least once a week; the surface water filter and UV system keeps the water clear day to day but does not replace chemicals. Replace the water two to three times a year depending on use, rinse the filter under running water a few times a month, and keep the insulated cover closed and locked whenever the spa is not in use. The spa is designed to stay filled and running through winter; only a power cut lasting several days puts it at risk of freezing, and frost damage to a spa emptied for winter is not covered by the warranty. The pool is emptied with a submersible drainage pump (not a metal one).
