Description
The HUUM DROP is a wall-mounted electric sauna heater whose water-drop form won the Red Dot Award for product design in 2015; its rounded profile softens the angular lines of a sauna interior. Despite its compact size it holds up to 55 kg of stones, giving a soft, long-lasting steam closer to that of a wood-burning stove. It is available in 4.5 kW, 6 kW and 9 kW models (the 9 kW is rated at 8.5 kW), covering sauna rooms of 3–13 m³, and connects to a single-phase 230 V or three-phase 400 V supply; the 9 kW model also includes HUUM’s heat diverter and heating-element retainer upgrade kit. A HUUM UKU control console (Local or Wi-Fi) and around 55 kg of 5–10 cm sauna stones are required and sold separately.

Installation
Installation and maintenance must be carried out by a certified electrician, with the electricity supply isolated at the fuse panel before any work begins. Under IEC 60364-7-703 and BS 7671:2018 an electric sauna heater does not have to be connected through an RCD, and for reliable operation the manufacturer recommends that the heater supply is not run through one; other electrical devices in the sauna room should be RCD protected. A local point of isolation covering all live conductors is recommended. The installation manual in the Downloads tab and local wiring regulations must be followed. The connection cable must be heat-resistant rubber-insulated cable (SIHF-JB or equivalent); PVC-insulated cable must not be used, and any junction box in the sauna room must be waterproof and mounted no higher than 500 mm from the floor. When sizing the heater, add 1 m³ of calculated room volume for every square metre of uninsulated brick, tile, glass or log wall in the sauna room. The DROP mounts on its wall frame with the power cable entering from the back, and the wall structure must carry the full 65 kg weight of the loaded heater. It can also be partially recessed into the sauna bench or floor, with at least 375 mm of the heater protruding and the optional embedding flange covering the opening. Sauna stones
The DROP requires approximately 55 kg of 5–10 cm stones, sold separately; natural stones such as olivine diabase or olivine are recommended. Wash the stones before use and lay them one by one, including between the heating elements, so that no element remains visible; on the DROP 9, do not place stones under the heating-element retainer. HUUM recommends rearranging the stones after 200 hours of use and replacing them after 400 hours.
