Description
The Kivi-IKI, designed by dSign Vertti Kivi & Co with IKI-Kiuas, puts a living fire at the heart of a large sauna. A generous glass hatch, 47.5 × 36 cm, lets the light and movement of the flames illuminate the room, while up to 260 kg of stones in the signature stainless steel mesh deliver the soft, humid steam IKI is known for. It suits saunas of 15 to 30 m³, stands 158 cm tall with a 48 cm mesh, and weighs 85 kg before stones. The 2025 model comes with a stove base as standard, with flue connection heights updated to match. Stones and the flue package are sold separately, and each stove is made to order in Pieksämäki, Finland.
Features
Technical Specification
| Model data (from the IKI installation manual, section 2.2) | |
| Sauna volume | 15 to 30 m³ |
| Heating capacity | 22.2 kW (manual technical table); EN 15821 declaration of performance states a measured sauna room heating output of 15.9 kW |
| Maximum stone capacity | 260 kg |
| Stove weight (without stones) | 85 kg |
| Height | 158 cm |
| Mesh diameter | 48 cm |
| Glass hatch (H × W) | 47.5 × 36 cm |
| Exhaust pipe outer diameter | 115 mm |
| Certification | EN 15821:2010, NB 2450; total efficiency 71.4%; flue draught 12 Pa; flue gas mass flow 13.5 g/s |
| Safety distances (installation manual, section 2.4) | |
| Lower mesh frame to the sides | 250 mm |
| Side of the furnace | 300 mm |
| Glass hatch to the front | 500 mm |
| Exposed exhaust pipe, to the sides | 500 mm |
| Exposed exhaust pipe, upwards | 1000 mm |
Stones & flue
Olivine, olivine-dolerite and peridotite stones smaller than 10 cm are recommended, placed loosely for free airflow; the gap between furnace and mesh must be fully covered by stones. IKI recommends connecting primarily to a brick, ceramic or air-cooled chimney. Stones and the flue package are sold separately; IKI Plus parts (stainless stove mesh, smoke connection pipes) are also available. The flue connection height is measured from the floor to the middle of the pipe with the furnace on its legs; see the dimensional drawing in Downloads for the 2025 heights.
Installation & care
Check the floor's load-bearing capacity: with a full 260 kg of stones this is a heavy stove. Light a first fire outdoors or in a well-ventilated space before fitting the stones, to burn off protective oils. Handle the mesh frame with gloves and long sleeves; its edges are sharp. Salt water on the stove voids the warranty. Chimneys in recreational use must be swept every three years; in permanent or frequent use, yearly.
Brand
IKI Kiuas pioneered open-structured sauna heaters with visible stones in a stainless steel mesh, handcrafted in Pieksämäki, Finland. Hand-welded stoves may show small tooling marks on the stainless rim. All IKI wood-burning stoves are made to order; production begins once your order is confirmed.
