Description

Description

Thermory's STS4 spruce cladding is a refined tongue and groove board for the walls and ceiling of a sauna, and it suits other interior finishes just as well. The STS4 profile takes its name from the 4 mm gap between each board; its slim, angular grooves create a prominent, symmetrical finish that suits a modern sauna where a strong aesthetic is desired, while grooves behind each board let condensed steam run down and drain to the floor. Spruce is one of our lighter, more cost-effective timbers, ranging from almost white to a light yellowish colour; brushing enhances its natural pattern, and a treatment of sauna paraffin oil makes it a good choice for interiors. Boards are 15 mm thick and 90 mm wide with an 80 mm effective width, sold in packs of six in a 2400 mm length, and we recommend a 15% wastage allowance when calculating quantities.

Features

  • Slim, angular STS4 profile: A 4 mm gap between boards creates a prominent, symmetrical, modern finish.
  • Easy tongue and groove fitting: Boards lock together simply, making the cladding well suited to DIY sauna builds.
  • Built-in drainage: Grooves behind each board let condensed steam run down and drain to the floor.
  • Light, cost-effective spruce: A pale timber, almost white to light yellow, that can be brushed or oiled for interior use.
  • Pack of six boards: Each board is 15 mm thick and 90 mm wide, with an 80 mm effective width.
  • Made by Thermory: Supplied by the world's largest manufacturer of thermally modified wood.

Timber

Spruce is one of our lighter timber options, ranging from almost white to a light yellowish colour. It is a cost-effective timber that has traditionally been preferred for the exterior walls of a sauna, and it can be brushed to enhance its charming natural pattern. Treating spruce with sauna paraffin oil makes it a good choice for interior spaces too. As a natural product, timber shows some colour variation between different packs and batches.

Profile

The STS4 profile gets its name from the 4 mm gap between each board. Its slim, angular grooves make this cladding a great choice for a modern sauna where a symmetrical, strong aesthetic is desired, and like all our cladding profiles, STS4 boards can be combined with other options to achieve your own look. More timbers are available in this profile within our STS4 cladding range.

Quality & Wastage

Our spruce sauna timber is of great quality, characterised by its durability. We recommend a wastage allowance of 15% for spruce sauna cladding, which also accounts for any risk of damage in transit. Our interactive Cladding Calculator on finnmarksauna.com can help you work out quantities, and our team is happy to advise if you are unsure how much you require.

Installation & Care

The tongue and groove boards are straightforward to fit, making this cladding well suited to a DIY sauna build. An Installation and Maintenance Guide is available under the Downloadable Files tab on this page. This profile can also be combined with our other cladding profiles, and with other timbers from our wider Sauna Wood Cladding Collection, to create your own look.

Brand

Thermory, founded in Estonia in 1997, is the world's largest manufacturer of thermally modified wood. Its chemical-free, thermally modified timber is its signature product, alongside a wide selection of untreated sauna wood.

Ordering & Delivery

Timber orders travel on a palletised shipping service and may require a kerbside drop or handballing off the freight vehicle. Costs are calculated at checkout and differ between UK Mainland, Highland and Island postcodes. We normally ship lengths of up to 2400 mm; beyond that, shipping costs rise significantly. If we do not stock your required length but have a longer one available, our cutting service can cut it down for a small fee: you purchase the full length and the off-cut is added to the pallet. For longer lengths or the cutting service, call +44 (0)20 8050 2895 or email support@finnmarksauna.com.
