Description
Thermory's STS4 cladding gives sauna walls and ceilings a strong, symmetrical line, with slim, angular grooves and the 4 mm gap between boards that gives the profile its name. It is a popular choice for contemporary saunas, and it can be combined with other wood profiles to bring contrast to the space or to other interiors. The boards are cut from thermo alder, a heat-treated timber with a warm hazel-brown colour and subtle grain that resists warping and twisting and will not splinter or overheat in sauna temperatures. Each pack holds six boards, 15 mm thick and 120 mm wide with 110 mm of effective coverage, in lengths of 2100 mm or 2400 mm. This sustainable, durable cladding suits a DIY project as readily as a professional fit-out.

Timber
Thermo alder has a hazel-brown colour and a subtle texture favoured by many. Like other heat-treated timbers it carries a low risk of warping and twisting, and it will not splinter or overheat at sauna temperatures. Timber is a natural product, so some colour variation between boards, packs and batches should be expected.
Profile
The STS4 profile takes its name from the 4mm gap between each board. Its slim, angular grooves create a symmetrical, strong aesthetic, which makes it a popular choice for modern and contemporary saunas. STS4 can be used together with other wood profiles to create a unique look in the sauna or other interiors.
Quality & Wastage
Our thermo alder is A-grade: durable, knot-free and with a low risk of splintering. We recommend a wastage allowance of 15%, which also covers the small risk of damage in transit. Our interactive cladding calculator on finnmarksauna.com can help you estimate quantities. General sauna wood grading standards apply to this timber.
Installation & Care
The boards are well suited to a DIY sauna build, and other timbers are available across our wider sauna wood cladding collection if you are matching an existing scheme. An Installation and Maintenance Guide is available under the Downloadable Files tab on this page.
Brand
Made by Thermory of Estonia, founded in 1997 and the world's largest manufacturer of thermally modified wood, whose fully natural heat treatment uses no chemicals.
Ordering & Delivery
Timber orders ship on a palletised service because of their size, and delivery may be kerbside with some handballing off the vehicle. Shipping is calculated at checkout and varies between UK Mainland, Highland and Island postcodes. We ship lengths up to 2400mm at standard rates; if we do not stock your required length but have a longer board available, our cutting service can cut it down for a small fee. You purchase the full length and the off-cut travels on the pallet. For longer lengths, the cutting service, or advice on sizes and quantities, call +44 (0) 20 8050 2895 or email support@finnmarksauna.com.
