About our Thermo Ash Bench Boards   

Thermo Ash/Fraxinus or more commonly used ash is very valuable, durable and strong wood with beautiful tree rings. It is said that ash is the oak’s younger brother, although the ash wood is even harder than oak. Natural ash has a slightly reddish tint and pleasant, but peculiar smell. Historically, the ash has been used for objects requiring durable wood such as carriages, and agricultural machines. Thanks to its beautiful texture, ash is nowadays used not only in the exterior, but also as furniture wood and in exclusive interior decoration.

During thermal modification ash achieves valuable properties for outdoor use, such as weather and rot resistance, better moisture and dimensional stability. Wood becomes more stable and resistant to the effects of the external environment, it removes resin and gives the material a exotic and beautifully deep brown color.

Thermo Ash SHP Sauna Bench Board Dimensions     

Our SHP profile is the standard timber profile for sauna bench boards, which is a rectangular profile with radiused corners, usually R2, R3 or R4 (2mm, 3mm or 4mm radii on each corner). The bench board radius value pertains to the smoothness of the board edge (e.g. R2 = 2mm radius on bench board edge). The 28mm thickness of the bench boards is important to prevent warping and twisting over time.

Our Thermo ash sauna timber is of A-grade quality, characterised by their durable, knot-free and low risk of splintering properties. As such, we recommend a wastage allowance of 15% for our thermo ash SHP sauna bench boards. This also takes into account any potential risk of damage that can occur during transportation.
