Description
Thermory's STS4 cladding in thermo radiata pine dresses sauna walls and ceilings in a deep, even brown with a distinctive striped grain. The profile takes its name from the 4 mm gap between boards, and its slim, angular grooves suit modern saunas where a symmetrical, darker aesthetic is wanted. The timber has very few to no knots, resists splitting and splintering, and releases no resin in the heat, so it stays comfortable to lean against. Each pack contains six boards at 15 × 140 mm (130 mm effective width), available in 2100 mm and 2400 mm lengths.

Timber
Thermo radiata pine is a dark brown timber with very few to no knots and a unique striped grain, well suited to rooms where a darker aesthetic is wanted. It does not secrete resin when hot, so it is comfortable to lean against, and its low-density structure resists splitting and splintering, making it a strong choice for sauna walls and ceilings.
Profile
The STS4 profile takes its name from the 4 mm gap between each board. Its slim, angular grooves create a symmetrical, strong aesthetic, which makes it a popular choice in modern and contemporary saunas. STS4 can also be combined with other wood profiles to create a distinctive interior.
Quality & Wastage
Our thermo radiata sauna timber is A-grade: durable, largely knot free and with a low risk of splintering. We recommend a wastage allowance of 20% for this cladding, which also covers any risk of damage in transit. As a natural product, timber shows some colour variation between packs and batches. General sauna wood grading standards apply to this timber; grading rules for the different sauna wood types are published on our website. Other timbers are available in our wider sauna wood cladding collection.
Installation & Care
This cladding is well suited to a DIY project. An installation and maintenance guide for our sauna wood cladding is available under the Downloadable Files tab on this page.
Brand
Thermory, founded in Estonia in 1997, is the largest manufacturer of thermally modified wood in the world; its chemical-free thermal modification sits alongside a wide selection of untreated sauna timber.
Ordering & Delivery
Timber orders ship on a palletised service because of their size and length, with costs calculated at checkout; rates differ between UK Mainland, Highland and Island postcodes, and delivery may be a kerbside drop requiring goods to be handballed off the vehicle. We normally ship lengths of up to 2400 mm; longer lengths increase shipping costs significantly. If we do not stock the length you need but hold a longer one, our cutting service can cut it down for a small fee: you purchase the full length and the off-cut travels on the pallet. For longer lengths or the cutting service, call +44 (0) 20 8050 2895 or email support@finnmarksauna.com.
