About our Western Red Cedar Bench Boards   

Western Red Cedar is a premium softwood with a recognisable, beautiful scent and attractive colouration ranging from shades of rich dark brown with red undertones to a creamy beige. Western red cedar has a distinguishable grain pattern that creates a unique aesthetic to saunas and other interiors. With its antifungal and heat resistant properties, it will last for years.

Western Red Cedar SHP Sauna Bench Board Dimensions     

Our SHP profile is the standard timber profile for sauna bench boards, which is a rectangular profile with radiused corners, usually R2, R3 or R4 (2mm, 3mm or 4mm radii on each corner). The bench board radius value pertains to the smoothness of the board edge (e.g. R2 = 2mm radius on bench board edge). The 26mm thickness of the bench boards is important to prevent warping and twisting over time.

Wastage Allowance for Western Red Cedar SHP Sauna Bench Boards

Our Western Red Cedar sauna timber is of A-grade quality, characterised by their durable, knot-free and low risk of splintering properties. As such, we recommend a wastage allowance of 20% for our western red cedar SHP sauna bench boards. This also takes into account any potential risk of damage that can occur during transportation.

Shipping Information on Sauna Timber

Depending on the size and quantity of your sauna timber order, the shipping costs may vary and will be calculated at checkout. Shipping costs also differ between UK Mainland, Highland and Island postcodes. Many of our timber products will be shipped using a palletised shipping service due to their big and bulky nature and may require a kerbside drop or handballing off the freight vehicles. Please take time to read our Shipping and Delivery Information carefully before placing an order for our Western Red Cedar SHP bench boards.

Please note that due to certain constraints of our shipping networks, we usually ship timbers of up to 2400m lengths, beyond those lengths the costs for shipping will increase quite significantly. If you do require longer timber lengths, our shipping calculator will indicate associated costs for such shipping.

If we do not have your required length, but have a longer length available, to avoid higher shipping rates, it is worth considering our cutting service. You will still need to purchase the full length, but for a small fee, we can cut this down to your desired length to help reduce shipping costs. The off-cut will be added onto the pallet.

Christmas and New Year's Shipping Update (Updated 2nd December 2025)

Please note the following changes to our pallet shipping and DPD delivery service on parcel orders over the Christmas period.

Our warehouse is fully closed for operation over the following days: Wednesday 24 December, Thursday 25 December, Friday 26 December, Wednesday 31 December and Thursday 1 January.

Orders requiring a pallet

The last dispatch date for orders requiring a pallet is Friday 19th December 2025. Pallet orders dispatched on this day must be booked and signed for with one of our sales team in advance.

Please note:

• Pallets dispatched on 19th December will be delivered on either 22nd or 23rd December, depending on your postcode
• We strongly advise against booking deliveries to the Highlands or Channel Islands close to the 19th December, as these may be held at the hub over the festive period
• There may be limited availability for pallet shipping on this day and we cannot guarantee that available slots remain

We will commence our regular pallet shipping service on Monday 5th January 2026.

Small Parcel Orders

DPD will deliver as normal up to and including Tuesday 23rd December 2025. Our daily cut-off for next day delivery is 2pm, with orders placed by 3pm on Tuesday 23rd December being our final dispatch before Christmas. Whilst we use a DPD Next Day delivery service, this is not a guarantee - please order earlier to avoid disappointment.

Limited dispatch service: We will dispatch DPD orders on Monday 29th December and Tuesday 30th December only during the festive closure period.

We will commence our regular delivery service on Monday 5th January 2026.

*Estimated delivery times are applicable to the UK mainland only (excludes Highlands and Islands). Additional delays and charges will be required for Non-UK Mainland and Highlands and Islands deliveries.
