Sauna Lighting UK – Expertise for Every Stage of Your Build

Sauna lighting is a specialist field – and Finnmark stands as the UK’s benchmark for refined, resilient illumination. Ordinary fixtures won’t endure the intense heat and humidity of a genuine sauna – that’s why we offer only premium LED sauna lights, fibre‑optic systems, and heat‑resistant fittings from distinguished Nordic creators, engineered for flawless performance.

For those building their own sauna, we provide guidance that ensures your lighting works in harmony with every detail of the build. We understand that designing and building a sauna can feel complex, which is why our knowledgeable team offers complimentary consultations to guide and inform at every stage. Drawing on technical expertise and a deep understanding of authentic sauna culture, we can advise on lighting placement, product selection, and the finer details of sauna construction. We can also assist you in assembling a complete basket of sauna materials, ensuring you have everything needed to create a space that is authentic to tradition and built to last.

With Finnmark as your partner, your build reflects both design sophistication and technical integrity – a refined retreat crafted with absolute confidence.

Lighting Your Sauna the Finnish Way

In Nordic sauna tradition, light is part of the ritual – a way to shape the atmosphere, guide the senses, and frame the space. The gentle glow of sauna ceiling lights, such as the SAAS Highline Sauna+, can fill the room with an even, welcoming radiance, softening shadows and creating the ideal environment for relaxation.

Layered, indirect lighting – the hallmark of Finnish design – takes form in LED sauna lights like the SAAS Highline Viiva Lighting Strips, perfect for tracing benches or accentuating a sauna wall with gentle depth and elegance. These slim, resilient strips work in harmony with your sauna construction, delivering ambiance without overpowering the senses. For moments of serene seclusion, a wall-mounted light with a crafted shade, such as the Wooden Oblong Light Shade Screen paired with a Sauna Light Fitting with Frosted Glass, offers a softer, intimate glow – ideal for quiet reflection and sensory immersion.

To complete the experience, consider enhancing your space with sauna accessories from our wider collection – everything from sauna buckets and ladles, thermometers and hygrometers, to fragrances, textiles, and even audio solutions. Every element plays its part in creating an authentic, indulgent sauna ritual, true to both Nordic tradition and modern craftsmanship.

Sauna Lighting FAQs

Are all of your sauna lights safe to use in high-humidity environments?

Yes. All sauna lights in the Finnmark collection are specifically designed and engineered to withstand both heat and humidity, meeting rigorous Nordic sauna lighting standards. Most carry an IP65 rating or higher, ensuring reliable performance in the intense humidity and fluctuating temperatures of a genuine sauna. Our Ledify and SAAS sauna lights are tested to function safely at temperatures of up to 120 °C. However, as not all models are designed for the same placement, it’s important to always check the specification for each product to ensure suitability – some are intended for use lower in the sauna where temperatures are reduced.

Whether you select sauna spot lights, LED sauna strip lights, or wall-mounted fittings with a crafted shade, each product is built for safe, enduring use. Please check the specifications for individual products and follow installation instructions to ensure optimal performance.

Can I install these sauna lights myself, or do I need professional installation?

While some experienced DIY builders may feel confident installing wall lights, corner lights, and LED sauna lights, we strongly recommend engaging a qualified electrician to guarantee both safety and compliance. This ensures the installation complies with safety standards for high-heat, high-humidity environments, and safeguards both the longevity and performance of your sauna lighting.

What driver do my sauna lights require?

The driver you need for your sauna lights depends on the type and wattage of the lights, as well as the power supply. For LED sauna lights, choose a driver compatible with the total wattage of your lights and suitable for high-temperature environments. Ensure it matches the voltage (e.g., 12V or 24V) of your lights.

The power (W) of the driver can be calculated by multiplying the voltage (V) with amperes (A).

Example: 6.25A x 12V = 75W

If you want to install a 9.6W/m LED strip, divide the power of the driver by the power of the LED strip.

Example: 75W ÷ 9.6W/m = 7.81m (So you can connect 7m of 9.6W/m LED strip to a 75W driver.)

Always opt for a driver specifically designed for sauna use to ensure safety and reliability. Dimmable lights often require a TRIAC driver.

Do you offer dimmable lighting options?

Yes, we provide specialised lights, controllers and dimmers, allowing you to adjust the ambiance to your preference. Not all of our standard sauna lights are dimmable, so please check the product description for dimming options and whether they apply.

What type of sauna lighting works best for small vs. large saunas?

In smaller saunas, lighting should open up the space without overwhelming it. Subtle spot lights or strip lights along the benches can create warmth and depth while maintaining an intimate atmosphere.

In larger saunas, layered lighting works well – combining small ceiling lights with strip lighting along bench lips or walls to accentuate key features and create a warm, inviting ambience. In all cases, choosing fixtures designed for high-heat, humid environments ensures they perform beautifully for years to come.
