Our Thermory STEP sauna wood cladding is a unique choice for the walls of your sauna or as an individual feature wall. The easy to install tongue and groove cladding is also suitable for other interior finishes. The STEP profile has broad grooves for an angular look. The STEP cladding can be used with other timber profiles to create contrast and a unique detail in the space.  

The STEP tongue and groove cladding is also suitable for fitting in a DIY sauna.

About our Alder Sauna Wood Cladding 

Alder is a popular wood choice in traditional saunas because of its natural qualities and a low risk of twisting and warping. Alder has a beautiful light brown colour with warm pink undertones. The subtle scent resembles that of freshly cut hay that many find pleasant in the sauna. Alder does not overheat and has water repellent properties, making it suitable to be used in hot and humid environments.

Information on our STEP Profile 

STEP profile cladding is a decorative choice that creates a modern aesthetic for your sauna. The finely repeating aesthetic of the profile can be installed vertically to help a room feel wider or horizontally to make a room feel taller. It has considerable depth, which creates a beautiful texture on feature walls that can be further enhanced by the use of lighting to create contrasting shadows in the wells between the raised sections of the cladding.

Wastage Allowance for Alder Cladding  

Our alder sauna timber is of A-grade quality, characterised by their durable, knot- free and low risk of splintering properties. As such, we recommend a wastage allowance of 15% for our alder wood sauna cladding. This also takes into account any potential risk of damage that can occur during transportation.

Shipping Information on Sauna Timber 

Depending on the size and quantity of your sauna timber order, the shipping costs may vary and will be calculated at checkout. Shipping costs also differ between UK Mainland, Highland and Island postcodes. Many of our timber products will be shipped using a palletised shipping service due to their big and bulky nature and may require a kerbside drop or handballing off the freight vehicles. Please take time to read our Shipping and Delivery Information carefully before placing an order for our alder cladding. 
 
Please note that due to certain constraints of our shipping networks, we usually ship timbers of up to 2400m lengths, beyond those lengths the costs for shipping will increase quite significantly. If you do require longer timber lengths, our shipping calculator will indicate associated costs for such shipping. 
 

If we do not have your required length, but have a longer length available, to avoid higher shipping rates, it is worth considering our cutting service. You will still need to purchase the full length, but for a small fee, we can cut this down to your desired length to help reduce shipping costs. The off-cut will be added onto the pallet.

Christmas and New Year's Shipping Update (Updated 2nd December 2025)

Please note the following changes to our pallet shipping and DPD delivery service on parcel orders over the Christmas period.

Our warehouse is fully closed for operation over the following days: Wednesday 24 December, Thursday 25 December, Friday 26 December, Wednesday 31 December and Thursday 1 January.

Orders requiring a pallet

The last dispatch date for orders requiring a pallet is Friday 19th December 2025. Pallet orders dispatched on this day must be booked and signed for with one of our sales team in advance.

Please note:

• Pallets dispatched on 19th December will be delivered on either 22nd or 23rd December, depending on your postcode
• We strongly advise against booking deliveries to the Highlands or Channel Islands close to the 19th December, as these may be held at the hub over the festive period
• There may be limited availability for pallet shipping on this day and we cannot guarantee that available slots remain

We will commence our regular pallet shipping service on Monday 5th January 2026.

Small Parcel Orders

DPD will deliver as normal up to and including Tuesday 23rd December 2025. Our daily cut-off for next day delivery is 2pm, with orders placed by 3pm on Tuesday 23rd December being our final dispatch before Christmas. Whilst we use a DPD Next Day delivery service, this is not a guarantee - please order earlier to avoid disappointment.

Limited dispatch service: We will dispatch DPD orders on Monday 29th December and Tuesday 30th December only during the festive closure period.

We will commence our regular delivery service on Monday 5th January 2026.

*Estimated delivery times are applicable to the UK mainland only (excludes Highlands and Islands). Additional delays and charges will be required for Non-UK Mainland and Highlands and Islands deliveries.
